The active ingredient in Nicorette Patch is nicotine.
Excipients:
polyisobutylene, polybutene, n-hexane, polyester (nonwoven)
Nicorette is a Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT). Nicorette provides your body with just enough nicotine to help reduce your cravings, but without the damaging tar and carbon monoxide from cigarette smoke, which are the primary causes of cancer and cardiovascular disease.
Nicorette has been shown to double a quitter's chances of stopping smoking compared to willpower alone. However, using Nicorette alone is not enough. There must also be a strong desire and determination to give up smoking. A combination of willpower and Nicorette will give you the best chance of quitting successfully.
Nicorette Patch is flexible enough to help control your cravings throughout the day, and gives your body a break while you sleep.
- One patch should be applied first thing every morning and removed before you go to bed. This helps provide craving relief throughout the day, while giving your body a break at night from additional nicotine, minimising the risk of side effects such as sleep disturbance.
- The Nicorette Patch can be applied to any area of clean, dry, non-hairy skin. For example: hip, upper arm, upper thigh, or chest.
- When applying the patch, run your finger around the edge of the patch to ensure it adheres properly.
Recommended programme:
Step 1 - 12 weeks
Step 2 - 2 weeks
Step 3 - 2 weeks
- Do not place a patch on the same piece of skin two days running, as this can cause irritation.
- Never smoke at the same time as using Nicorette patch.
Do not use Nicorette:
- When you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant. There is medical evidence that nicotine in any form may be harmful to an unborn child. Therefore it is recommended that you do not use Nicorette if you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant.
- When you are breastfeeding or intend to breastfeed. Nicotine passes freely into breast milk and can affect the health of the baby. Therefore it is recommended that you do not use Nicorette if you are breastfeeding or intend to breast-feed.
- If you have heart disease such as palpitations (fast or irregular heart beats or angina).
- If you have had a recent heart attack or a stroke
- If you have long term skin disorders like psoriasis or dermatitis.
- If you are a non-smoker, or only smoke occasionally.
